The Roaring Twenties

Lately, I've been craving a 1920s bash, which would be a perfect theme for a New Year's fĂȘte!

I'm enamored with the fashion, design, and general spirit of this era, which was filled with economic prosperity and creative flourishes.

I'd love to step back into the period in for a day, particularly in New York or Paris. The romance of speakeasies, the Jazz Age, Art Deco movement, surrealism, the Harlem Renaissance, flappers, and the amazing literature of the time (The Great Gatsby, Siddhartha, Ulysses, The Sun Also Rises...) is captivating. What decade do you wish you could experience?

Living the Dream

Recently, The New York Times wrote a piece on a New York designer who bought a tiny carriage house in Paris - only nineteen feet deep and six and a half feet wide!

It's an uplifting story of someone who will do anything to achieve his dream of living in Paris, and found inspiration in the smallest, formerly uninspired space. While it's a bit too teeny for me (I cannot bear anything smaller than our one bedroom Manhattan apartment), I love the story, and I most certainly adore Paris. This story is a great reminder to have faith in the power of great design!

Paris Encore

The fashion fantasy continues as the collections keep showing this week...

And, while the shows have been beautiful, I remain constantly inspired by the wonderful style on the streets.

These looks are fairly simple...largely monochromatic, with a few great pieces, fantastic shoes, and maybe a bold accessory. But so very gorgeous.

Parisian Moment

Between Fashion Week and the upcoming edition of FIAC, I'm finding myself particularly missing Paris, a city where I once lived and will always hold close to my heart. And wouldn't it be lovely to have such a glamorous, yet effortless, fashion moment...

Just like these two gorgeous looks caught near the Tuileries. Oh, to just throw on a dress, a dynamite pair of heels, and stroll around the city of light!
