Setting the Scene

When I first saw Reed Krakoff's Fall 2011 ad campaign, I was completely distracted by two things: Black and White VII, the geometric Al Held painting, and the Claude Lalanne sheep. (I'm a total sucker for Lalanne sheep!)

When I realized that it was shot in Krakoff's Upper East Side townhouse, I had to find more images...And discovered an article by Hamish Bowles from Vogue that I had somehow missed! And the accompanying slideshow revealed amazing pictures of great design, a very impressive art collection, and more sheep!

Image one of Stella Tennant in Reed Krakoff's Fall 2011 ad; Image two of Robert Motherwell's Open No. 16, 1968 with a Claude Lalanne bronze crocodile chair and Guy de Rougemont chrome-and-lucite coffee table; Image three, a second view of the living room, shows a 2006 translucent chaise by Joris Laarman and a Cogolin rug designed by Henri Gonse from 1940; Image four captures a clock by André Dubreuil and a sculpture by Alexandre Noll in front of Frank Stella's beautiful painting Concentric Squares, 1974, as well as a Serge Roche table from the 1930s; Image five shows a flock of Lalanne sheep, an Alexander Liberman painting, and a table and chairs by Garoust & Bonetti; Image six is of a Jean-Michel Frank sofa from the 1930s topped off by several Line Vautrin mirrors; Image seven captures the dream-worthy master bath sitting room with a 1930s Jean-Michel Frank vellum table, Serge Roche's mirror from 1955, and two Louis XVI marquises by George Jacob.
